The Sebo collaboration.

We teamed up with Portland, Oregon artist, skateboarder and family man Sebo Walker to create a limited-edition of the Duval, our front-flipper pocket knife. We produced 50 of these Duvals which feature Sebos artwork on each side. No two knives are the same, so you’ll be putting a piece of artwork in your pocket.

LIMITED EDITION ARTIST SERIES

The Duval: The Modern Pocket Knife.

The Duval is our first and only front-flipper, combining the best features of two classic knife silhouettes into a sleek and functional new form. Traditional pocket knives require two hands to open and close, and they typically don’t lock. With its front-flipper opening style and it's frame-lock design, you get the best of both worlds: the one-handed opening and security of a traditional flipper frame-lock knife, combined with slimness, symmetry and beauty of a classic gentlemen's pocket knife.

About Sebo Walker:

Sebo was born in Salem, Oregon in 1988. He was raised on competitive soccer, but burned out on the coaching and the rules. In the mid 2000’s his skateboarding started to attract the attention of the local PDX skateboarding community and he started to pick up sponsors and put out his first video parts. He won the 2011 Red Bull Manny Mania world championships. He lived in his Chrysler Town and Country van between 2010 and 2015 so that he could focus full time on his skateboarding. He recently moved back to Portland and became a dad, welcoming his son to the world just a couple of months ago. He’s now focused on balancing his skateboarding, his artwork and taking care of his family.

The Process.

We commissioned Sebo to create a piece of artwork for us in his typical bright and colorful style. He painted live, while photographer and videographer Bryce Kanights documented the work. The end result was a triptych (3-piece) which will soon hang in the TJB office. We then took the artwork, digitized it, and made a pattern for 50 sets of Duval scales, or handles. We had to find a way to work within the boundaries of the artwork to make sure that each and every knife would be colorful and well-balanced. Then, using a proprietary process, we digitally printed each G10 scale and assembled them all by hand.

The Prints.

We wanted to create a way to share Sebo’s amazing artwork, so we created a set of 8 x 10 prints of the artwork on thick, professional-grade archival paper. Sebo signed and numbered each of these 50 sets and they are included with every Sebo knife sold. They’ll make a great addition to your wall or art collection.
