The Chapter is where it all started for us. This was our very first knife; the one that put us on the map, and made people pay attention. It’s been a decade since we first launched the original Chapter, and The James Brand has learned, changed, and grown a lot since then. We are proud to bring some of that knowledge and wisdom to this latest iteration of our original knife.
The Chapter 2 features a tip-up carry orientation and a fully-machined titanium pocket clip. Featuring a stainless steel s35vn blade, running on sealed ceramic bearings, The Chapter 2 balances a minimal aesthetic with some of the very best in materials and technology. The new Chapter features more sophisticated lines, but the design still maintains the iconic Chapter form. This was our very first knife for a reason. We’re proud to bring you the next chapter of the Chapter.

The Next Chapter.
Ten years ago, the knife we wanted to carry every day didn’t exist, so we made it. The Chapter was the very first product that we designed and made, and is a staple of the brand. A lot has changed in the first decade of The James Brand, but our values remain unchanged. We are as committed as ever to our modern, minimal design ethos, and to bringing you the very best products we can make. An Evolution of the Original.
Truth be told, we didn’t necessarily know what we were doing when we created the first Chapter. We had a vision of the knife we wanted to carry every day, so that’s what we made. It’s amazing that people entrusted us with their money based on a strange company name, a novel design and some cool images on a website. Since then, we have learned a lot, and we’ve heard your feedback on how to make the Chapter even better. The new Chapter 2 now features a tip-up carry orientation, an all-new fully machined titanium pocket clip, and some subtle curvature in the scales. It’s like the original Chapter in many ways, but better. Just like us.
Simple is Significant.
The reasons that we made the Chapter back in 2014 are the same reasons that we still make it today: we wanted a simple, iconic pocket knife that didn’t feel threatening or overly done. We wanted something that was beautiful in its own right; an object that we would love to feel in hand, but that would absolutely do the work when required. We’re proud of the Chapter, and what it means to us, and to you. We thank you for the trust you’ve given us over the past decade, and we’re looking forward to the next ten years together, and beyond.

This knife is remarkably well constructed. Every detail was well thought out. I own many knives (50+) and many in my collection are within this price point. That being said, this one is one of my favorites. The James Brand does not cut corners and that is apparent when you get your hands on one of their knives. Well done.

All about the details. Compound radius on the frame/handles. Pivot end has radius and end of frame is flat. Cerakote looks and feels great. Same for PVD on the blade shaped for piercing, slicing and draw cuts and excellentfor EDC. No weight relief on frame makes for a solid feeling medium sized knife. All edges are treated with a rounded profile which feels great in the hand. The pocket clip is excellent and the best upgrade/improvement. The thumb stud is very effective and easy on the thumb. Detent is medium light and perfect for straight up thumb flicks or nice controlled slow roll. The sealed bearings feel very smooth, I'm talking Holt and Shiro level smooth. I also like that on the lock side the cut line is past the center point giving more frame to grab and less chance of pressing down on the frame lock. Like all other Knives by The James Brand this one comes very sharp out of the box and perfectly centered. Fantastic presentation! One criticism is, no detent ramp.

This is such a great knife. The design is very simple which lends to its appeal. The minute you hold it, you can tell that it’s made of good quality materials. The tolerances are also very tight and the deployment action is fast and smooth. The blade detent is very good and I keep wanting to open and close the thing all the time.

First of all, I love TJB. First rate products from design to materials. I eagerly opened my Chapter 2, one of 9 TJB knives I’ve acquired or have been gifted. In this case, the body of the knife on the flipper side was scuffed. Very minor but I suspect the slight movement during shipping was enough to leave permanent marks. I use my knives so I figured I would have done the same within a month or so. A simple cloth insert might be the answer. The knife itself is exceptional, the clip holds it confidently and removing the knife and opening is a breeze with the tip-up design. I’m left handed but this works for me perfectly.
